GigaIO to Introduce Technology that Enhances Scalability for PCIe Networking


CARLSBAD, Calif., March 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- GigaIO, Inc., an innovator of data center network architecture and connectivity solutions, today announced their newest innovation, Cascading, the first PCIe technology that allows users to scale a network beyond a single switch. Cascading delivers improved network scale for software-defined infrastructure (SDI), enabling the ability to compose larger computing clusters on the fly.

Cascading comes as part of a software upgrade to the Leader and Maestro software packs, which enhance GigaIO's flagship product, FabreX™, a hyper-performance network architecture that features a unified, flexible infrastructure and server-to-server communication capabilities for true cluster-scale networking. Cascading enables scaling up the number of servers participating in a FabreX network. This results in direct memory access by a server to the system memories of all other servers in the cluster, creating the industry's first in-memory network.

Cascading accommodates multiple topologies, including Fat Tree and 2D Torus configurations, allowing for bandwidth to spread evenly throughout the cluster for unparalleled computing efficiency.

The Cascade upgrade will be available in the first quarter of 2019. Users can choose from several FabreX software packages depending on their cluster configuration needs, including the Composer Pack for super-server expansions, the Leader Pack for multi-server clusters and the Maestro Pack for large multi-rack systems. Pricing for upgrading the Composer Pack to the Leader Pack begins at $2,820 USD. The cascading functionality is included in the Leader and Maestro software maintenance upgrade.
