SAN MATEO, Calif., March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, IXL Learning announced that it has been selected by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as an approved blended learning program for the statewide Math Innovation Zones initiative. "We created IXL to spark curiosity in students, develop their confidence, and help every learner succeed in math," said Paul Mishkin, CEO of IXL Learning. "By partnering with the Texas Education Agency, IXL will provide teachers with a valuable resource to ensure that all students are supported and challenged at the right level."

Math Innovation Zones aims to improve learning outcomes in math by preparing students for success in Algebra I. IXL was selected based on its comprehensive, adaptive curriculum and full alignment to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Currently, over 300,000 students across Texas already use IXL as part of their school's curriculum.

Math Innovation Zones schools that select IXL gain access to its comprehensive math curriculum3,000 K-12 skills that pinpoint students' exact levels of understanding and generate questions that meet them where they are. Personalized skill recommendations help guide each student toward mastery, while insights from the IXL Continuous Diagnostic and IXL Analytics give teachers up-to-the-minute information that they can use to make effective instructional decisions.

"The IXL program is user-friendly for the students. They also enjoy mastering lessons and earning rewards," said Theresa Mallory, third grade teacher at Mineola Elementary, a Math Innovation Zones school. "I love it because it correlates to our standards, and the reports let me monitor student progress." Teachers on the Mineola kindergarten team added, "IXL has provided our young students with differentiated activities to meet their present levels of learning. We love the independence it has built in our students."

Additionally, recent research has proven the effectiveness of IXL and its positive impact on students. In studies of all 42,940 public schools across 12 states, IXL schools consistently outperformed non-IXL schools on standardized assessments. In Texas, schools using IXL outperformed non-IXL schools in math by as much as 11 percentile points in math and 17 percentile points in reading.

Fifteen additional school districts across Texas have been selected for the 2019 cohort of Math Innovation Zones. These districts will have the opportunity to partner with IXL and will begin implementation in the fall of 2019.
