Numerati® Partners Sponsors HACK the MACHINE Hackathon

NEW YORK, Sept. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Numerati® Partners LLC, a technology curation and enablement firm sponsored the Navy's Hack the Machine hackathon, which took place in New York City from September 6-8th 2019, at the Intrepid Museum and the Brooklyn Navy Yard. HACKtheMACHINE is an event where people from diverse backgrounds — from software engineers to data scientists, from students to start-up CEOs and large corporations — assist the Navy in solving its foremost digital challenges, with technologists alongside military and government personnel addressing complex challenges.

This year, HACK the MACHINE was comprised of three separate tracks:

  • Track 1: Hack the Ship: a maritime capture-the-flag experience for hacking GIS, radar, and programmable logic controllers, including the opportunity to hack a newly developed cyber defense for industrial control systems.
  • Track 2: Cleared for Takeoff: assisting the Navy learn whether data science and machine learning can predict maintenance problems before they happen, and keep vital and complex assets (aircraft such as the F-18) in the air for longer.
  • Track 3: Digital Manufacturing — Rendering Aid: assisting the Navy work with remote designers and engineers to prototype parts using 3D printers to quickly produce the parts needed to repair a ship while at sea.

"Wholesale adoption of open source digital technologies by government and industry for industrial controls, predictive maintenance and additive manufacturing is both imminent and inevitable," said David K.A. Mordecai, PhD, Co-Managing Member of Nmerati® Partners. "More disciplined technology adoption – based on a rigorous integrated engineering approach to digital technologies and high dimensional data analytics – is fundamental as a foundation for robust and resilient commercial, industrial and governmental innovation."

"We are committed to advancing substantive, science-based and industry-focused innovation across the global transportation and manufacturing sectors," said Samantha Kappagoda, Co-Managing Member of Numerati® Partners.

HACK the Machine was presented by Fathom 5 and Booz Allen Hamilton. In addition to Numerati Partners, other sponsors included AWS, Dell, FireEye, General Electric, Github, Google, Microsoft, MongoDB, NVIDIA, Sauer Compressors, Siemens, Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Naval Postgraduate School Alumni Association and Foundation, Naval Cyberwarfare Development Corp, and Naval Program Executive Office C4I.
