Less Than Two Weeks Left to Nominate a Virginia High School Student for $25,000 College Scholarship From Sallie Mae

Less than two weeks remain for school counselors and local community leaders to nominate high school juniors or seniors in Virginia for a $25,000 Bridging the Dream Scholarship from Sallie Mae®. High school counselors and community leaders have until Sept. 26 to nominate a student. This year, Sallie Mae will award a $25,000 scholarship to a student in Virginia, home to nearly 100 employees at the company's Reston location.

Sallie Mae's Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program recognizes students who have excelled both inside and outside of the classroom, but whose financial circumstances or other obstacles in life may not allow them to pursue a college education. The simple nomination process requires two, 200-word essays that highlight contributions inside and outside the classroom and any issues that may prevent a student from attending college.

"Our missio at Sallie Mae is grounded in helping aspiring minds achieve the lives they imagine and that starts with making the dream of a higher education a reality," said Martha Holler, senior vice president, Sallie Mae. "With less than two weeks left, we urge high school counselors and leaders throughout Virginia to nominate students for the Bridging the Dream Scholarship, and together, we'll help make college happen for a student from the Old Dominion State!"
