The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) has released a new Driven to Wellness website developed by NETS through a cooperative agreement with NHTSA. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics:

  • Approximately 156 million full-time workers in the United States spend a majority of their waking hours at work.
  • Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among workers in the U.S.
  • Workplace health programs can reach segments of the population who otherwise might not be exposed to and engaged in public health promotion programs, campaigns an messages.

The campaign toolkit includes a number of valuable concepts and proven solutions on how employees can reach a healthy body weight and increase sleep, as well as tips on how to become more physically active to develop and maintain better health which ultimately improves safety on the road. For maximum impact the toolkit is organized into 5 essential components comprised of the following core wellness elements: physical wellness; work-life balance; impaired driving; healthy vehicles; and how to develop a wellness plan.
