MCSIG Saves More Than $10 Million in Surgery Costs with BridgeHealth; Renews Multi-Year Contract

Municipalities, Colleges, Schools Insurance Group (MCSIG) has renewed a multi-year contract with long-term vendor partner BridgeHealth, the industry-leading provider of surgical advocacy and centers of excellence (COE) programs, to continue providing MCSIG members access to affordable, high-quality care.

"We are pleased to continue providing this valuable benefit to our members," said Roxanne Buckner, executive director at MCSIG. "For 10 years, BridgeHealth has supported hundreds of our members in need of a planned surgery with affordable rates, dedicated care coordination and support, and high-quality surgical care."

The Monterey Peninsula in California is notably more expensive than the rest of the country when it comes to healthcare - even more expensive than other high-cost areas in the state, including Los Angeles and San Francisco. The BridgeHealth planned surgery program leverages pre-negotiated, bundled rates with high-quality surgical providers in California and across the country to provide more affordable surgical care for MCSIG and its members.

Not only does MCSIG save - they have saved more than $10 million on surgeries since 2015 alone - their members pay little to no out-of-pocket cost for the entire surgical episode of care. Plus, each member receives the dedicated support of a care coordinator who helps them navigate the healthcare system. Equally important is the added support during COVID-19. BridgeHealth coordinators help members understand and manage the additional requirements and issues of having surgery during a pandemic.

"Planned surgery ca be a difficult experience for members. In the era of COVID-19, navigating the healthcare landscape, identifying providers who can deliver reliably excellent care, and managing the logistics and cost can be even more overwhelming," said Jamie Hall, president and CEO at BridgeHealth. "We are honored to continue supporting MCSIG members with the kind of affordable, accessible, and compassionate high-quality healthcare they need and deserve."

BridgeHealth provides self-insured plans, like MCSIG, support for their members when they need planned surgery. By leveraging a mix of hospital and ambulatory surgery centers to deliver the right blend of value, BridgeHealth effectively balances quality care, cost, and access to meet the unique needs of large, self-insured organizations and their individual members.
