BCS Data Center Operations Expands Solutions Portfolio to Include Government Programs

BCS Data Center Operations (BCS) announces expanding its solutions portfolio to include a new BCS Government Programs division dedicated to serving the mission of U.S. and state governments and their partners. The expansion empowers BCS to quickly respond to critical infrastructure needs caused by recent government shifts.

Craig Harris, an industry and government programs veteran, has been named senior vice president, chief government programs officer in charge of leading BCS Government Programs efforts. Based in BCS's Addison, Texas, corporate headquarters, he brings two decades of operations experience to BCS, including overseeing colocation operations for a top data center provider, leading the Amazon Web Services (News - Alert) (AWS) infrastructure team responsible for U.S. government contracts, heading IT process-design projects for the federal government and launching state-of-the-art fulfilment centers for Amazon.

"We've known for some time that our operations model, disciplined approach and nimble, responsive delivery model is uniquely capable of meeting the demands and critical needs of the public sector," said BCS CEO Danny Crocker. "The opportunity to add an executive with Craig's background and experience to lead BCS Government Programs allowed us to make this strategic move."

Harris was a lead associate for Booz Allen Hamilton (News - Alert) where he led projects for U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Naval Research, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Army Materiel Command and the U.S. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory. He is a 14-year Marine Corps veteran.

The BCS announcement comes amid a consolidation of federal government agencies, an icrease in the volume of distributed classified workloads and a push by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to operate data center assets and critical infrastructure more efficiently. BCS Government Programs employs elements of the same delivery model successfully used with private industry partners to solve pressing problems facing government agencies, especially those within the underserved cleared-contractor market.

"Most government data center facility management contracts, including cleared work, rely on multiple vendors and subcontractors to perform critical operations, IT services, physical security and maintenance services," said Chief Corporate Technical Services Officer John Hevey. "This approach, while common, introduces a level of risk and inefficiency that the public sector is seeking to mitigate."

BCS now has more than 6 million square feet and 350 MW of critical power under contract, including a large portion managing highly regulated, compliant, uptime-dependent environments, including three of the world's leading financial service companies. Early this year, BCS announced receiving Uptime Institute's M&O Stamp of Approval, a successful Service Operation Control (SOC) 2 Type II report and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI (News - Alert) DSS) assessment for the data center campus they operate in Phoenix.

BCS uses a full lifecycle of solutions delivered through trained and certified people, best-in-class processes, and leading technologies through a single integrated delivery system; freeing agencies and their partners to focus on achieving their primary mission. BCS's single-source, self-performance model means BCS employees perform a minimum of 80% of all services.
