By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

GENBAND (News - Alert), a provider of IP infrastructure and application solutions and a partner of Global Convergence Solutions (GCS), announced that the acquisition of the Nortel (News - Alert) Carrier VoIP (CVAS) division significantly advanced GENBAND’s network transformation and Internet Protocol (IP) migration portfolio.

The acquisition will help GENBAND become the leading equipment vendor in the global service provider VoIP market.

By taking over Nortel CVAS and integrating its products into its portfolio, GENBAND preserved many years of respected research and development. The company could provide continuity to customers, enabling carrier customers to cost effectively continue growth and delivery of services to global customer bases. Recently, GENBAND began a one-year anniversary celebration of its acquisition of the Nortel Carrier VoIP (CVAS) division.

“The company has come together over the past year to successfully integrate, streamline and cultivate a customer-focused culture, and we are pleased to celebrate this accomplishment today,” said Charlie Vogt (News - Alert), chief executive officer of GENBAND, in a statement.

“I have been involved with many mergers and acquisitions throughout my career, though this transaction was like none other in terms of synergies and integration achievement realized during the past 12 months. Many thanks and appreciation to the employees that proudly call themselves GENBAND,” Vogt added. Over the past five years, GENBAND achieved 80 percent compound annual growth. The company has more than 3,000 full-time employees and contractors serve more than 600 customers, including 80 of the world’s top 100 network operators.

Recently, Interoute, the owner/operator of Europe’s densely connected voice and data network, and GENBAND announced they will deliver an official IPv6 VoIP network in Europe.

Leveraging S3 Session Border Controller from GENBAND, Interoute will extend its existing Carrier IP Interconnect and SIP Business Trunking solution into its Next Generation IPv4 and IPv6 native network.

Genband is a partner of GCS, a proprietary rating and routing Next Gen Network Solutions (News - Alert) company.

Recently, Razorsight, a leading provider of cloud-based business intelligence and profit analytics for the communications industry, and GCS (News - Alert) unveiled their new initiative which will allow both companies to jointly market, present and pursue global opportunities for their products and services by leveraging the existing sales, marketing and customer bases of both companies.
