TMCnet Next Gen Network Solutions Week in Review

By Carrie Schmelkin, TMCnet Web Editor

This week in the Next Gen Network Solutions (News - Alert) space, HP Enterprise Services announced that it is teaming with Telekom Serbia, a fixed, mobile and broadband services provider in Serbia and neighboring Balkan states, to help transform its operations and business support systems (OSS and BSS).

The new OSS/BSS system will increase service-level management, reduce costs and improve the customer experience at the Serbian provider, among other things. Moreover, it will better the customer experience and ultimately maintain its leadership in an increasingly competitive market.

“Telekom Serbia is committed to providing world-class service to its customers, and HP is a trusted partner in our ongoing effort,” said Milan Simic, chief information officer, Telekom Serbia, in a statement. “HP's industry expertise and consulting methodology provided us with an independent analysis that underpins our strategic OSS-BSS roadmap.”

Also this week, Next Gen Network Solutions leader Global Convergence (News - Alert) Solutions (GCS) saw a lot of its partners making their mark in the space.

Recently, Telx, a leading interconnection and data center provider in 15 strategic North American markets and a GCS (News - Alert) partner, announced that USCarrier Telecom, LLC has joined the award-winning Telx Ethernet Exchange to expand the reach of its own Ethernet service delivery footprint in the Southeastern U.S.

“USCarrier selected the Telx Ethernet Exchange to leverage its one-to-many connectivity to better serve our customers in the Southeast,” said Jack Roberts, vice president of sales for USCarrier. “Becoming a member of this fast-growing community enables us to seamlessly interconnect to all carriers within Telx’s data center in Atlanta, while other Telx Ethernet Exchange members now have additional options with direct access to our Ethernet exchange from this key location.”

USCarrier Telecom, a provider of high-capacity, high-speed telecommunications bandwidth, offers wholesale services including optical transport, metro Atlanta access, long-distance, Ethernet and Internet access, connecting more than 40 cities in throughout the Southeast. The company is a “carrier’s carrier,” serving wireless and wire line carriers, ISP’s and cable companies.

Another partner, GENBAND (News - Alert), announced that Voisys, an international broadband phone service provider, has selected GENBAND’s A2 Converged Application Server to support the delivery of hosted services to subscribers across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. By leveraging, GENBAND’s A2 Converged Application Server, the company will support the delivery of advanced session initiation protocol (SIP) voice, video, multimedia and Web collaboration services to wholesale and retail consumer and small business customers.
