Telekom Albania Offers SMS and RCS Messaging
August 24, 2015
Telekom Albania made headlines with the launch of its native SMS/MMS messaging app, a single application allowing users to video chat, instant message, group message, share large photos and videos while still being able to send SMS and MMS communications. What makes this service a little different is users can interact with users who are not currently subscribed to the service, making it an attractive option.
Currently available for Android (News - Alert) and via iPhone with a compatible rich communications services (RCS) application, this launch highlights how providers are investing in technologies to bring the most to their subscribers.
"Launching rich carrier-driven communications services powered by Jibe in Albania, following our successful launches in Romania and Slovakia, is another step in Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert)'s expansion of IP communication for our customers throughout Europe," said Kobus Smit Head of Voice & Messaging at Deutsche Telekom said in a statement to the press. "Jibe's centralized cloud architecture is bringing significant improvement in efficiency and much faster time to market when launching RCS in multiple geographies. Based on this success, Deutsche Telekom will interconnect with other local and international carriers via Jibe's Cloud and RCS Hub."
RCS solutions bring together the best of Internet services and operators communications methods, embedded right in mobile devices. Service providers can offer customers feature-rich capabilities that make their mobiles even more central to their personal and business lives, providing opportunities for revenue streams that weren’t before possible.
Digital service providers (DSPs) rely on companies like Comverse (News - Alert) whose digital services allow for a variety of communications across mobile devices. Comverse is the muscle behind DSPs; allowing enterprises to monetize fourth wave digital services leveraging the cloud.
Solutions like the Comverse RCS-API-GW offers RCS to enterprises and developers, making adoption easier with instant opportunities for revenue generation.
These forms of communication have brought professional desktop-grade tool sets right to the mobile user.
RCS, combined with IP messaging offerings are technologies to keep your eye on in our era of increasingly multimodal communications.
