Despite the aggressive push by Microsoft (News - Alert) for its users to adopt its cloud computing services including Office 365, a lot of people are still opting for the boxed copy. Microsoft has decided to reward anyone buying the boxed copy of Office 2010 with a free upgrade to Office 2013. The free upgrade will only be applicable if you bought Office 2010 between October 19, 2012 and April 30, 2013.

New purchases of Office 2010 are not the only ones to get this free upgrade however. Anyone with a subscription to the Office 365 releases also gets the complimentary upgrade to Office 2013 when it ships. The hope with this promotion is that the company will be able to encourage people to try out the new product and realize that when it launches new solutions, customers should then immediately jump on board.
