Office 365 implementation may bring certain challenges to organizations. Due to the fact that Office 365 is often leveraged as part of a heterogeneous SharePoint environment this can result in information silos within the enterprise, making a unified search difficult.

To overcome this obstacle, , BA Insight recently unveiled the new Longitude Connector for Office 365. The intuitive solution exposes content from across the suite including SharePoint Online, Exchange Online and Lync and effectively bridges it to on-premises SharePoint and FAST (News - Alert).

This strategy provides a comprehensive approach to supporting hybrid environments for customers moving SharePoint to the cloud. It also helps ensure that organizations can securely integrate their enterprise systems for true enterprise-wide searches.

Longitude Connectors securely integrates over 40 enterprise systems into Microsoft (News - Alert) SharePoint and FAST Search, providing knowledge workers with a single point of access to all information, people and expertise across the enterprise. The service provides rapid and cost-effective out-of-the-box deployment, comprehensive security mapping, and full Active Directory integration, enabling companies to maximize the ROI of an organization's ERP, CRM, ECM and messaging systems by securely unlocking and surfacing this information in a unified view.

"We're seeing more and more uptake of Office 365 within our customer base, and customers asked for a solution not only for exposing Office 365 content to SharePoint, but also for connecting it with other enterprise systems," said Guy Mounier, CEO of BA Insight, in a statement. "With our background and expertise in enterprise search, we were able to come up with a very elegant, packaged solution that's easy to deploy."

In a related development, BA Insight also has unveiled Longitude SearchParts, a set of interactive widgets that improve the enterprise search experience in SharePoint and FAST environments.
