Dixons Retail Turns to Office 365, Just in Time for the Bustling Holiday Season

Retail stores throughout most of the world are now in the midst of what they are hoping will be a highly profitable time period due to the fact that most people are now deep within the holiday shopping process for their loved ones, friends and colleagues. That is exactly why Dixons Retail, a retail chain that powers operations throughout the U.K., Ireland, Czech Republic and Hong Kong, has implemented Office 365 in order to reduce its IT departments stress level when dealing with speedy shoppers looking for that perfect gift for a deserving individual.


The retail business also wants to drive collaboration amongst employees in addition to making work schedules much more flexible and the platform will be officially debuted to the organization in its entirety by March 2013. However right now, the business is leveraging a pilot version of the offering which will be sure to alleviate some of the increasing demand that will surely build until the end of the month.

According to a recent article, when deploying Office 365 to its employee base of nearly 20,000, Dixon Retail will enable its workforce to take advantage of cloud-based Microsoft (News - Alert) applications such as Exchange, SharePoint and Lync. With this solution in place, the retailer provider hopes to increase mobility significantly, which in turn will bring customer service to an unparalleled level.

 "The implementation of Office 365 will significantly improve the way we work together within the organization. But more importantly, improve the way that we interact with our customers," said Matt Horwood, IT director for Dixons Retail, in a statement. "As a company that provides consumers with cutting-edge technology and consumer electronics, it is crucial that we continue to be progressive in how we deliver service.

 Horwood added that he hopes this robust platform will help to increase the amount of time that staff can spend on the shop floor and enable them to access key information that will help serve customers in an effective manner.
