BEIJING, Nov 07, 2012 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
The Ministry of Industry and Information
Technology (MIIT) is mulling policies together with the Ministry of
Finance (MOF) to support development of key components for industrial
robots, said Wang Weiming, an official with the MIIT, quoted by the
China Securities Journal.
Wang said Wednesday at the China International Industry Fair that
key robot parts that are expected to get policy support include the
drive system, dynamo, and gear reducer.
In 2011, China's sales volume of industrial robots totaled 22,600
units, a 51 percent increase from a year earlier, according to the
China Machinery Industry Federation.
According to a report by the International Federation of Robotics,
China's demand for industrial robots is likely to reach 32,000 units
in 2014, becoming the country with the world's biggest appetite for
robots. (Edited by Ding Lei, dinglei@xinhua.org)
