BRIEF: Motorcycle officer still critical, two bikers still sought

Nov 10, 2012 (Sun Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A Hollywood motorcycle officer remains in critical condition, police said Thursday, but investigators have a better description of the two motorcycles seen speeding away from the scene of the officer's crash.

Armando Silva, 43, lost control of his motorcycle while trying to make a traffic stop on North 35th Avenue at 1:50 p.m. on Oct. 29, police said.

Surveillance video from neighboring Memorial Regional Hospital shows two motorcycles speeding south on 35th Avenue.

One motorcycle was described as a copper-red and yellow 1997-2001 Suzuki TL1000-S. The other bike is either a 1991-98 Honda CBR-600, or more likely a 2000-01 Honda CBR-929. It appeared to be painted silver-gray because there were no visible logos on the body, according to Broward Motorsports general manager Phil Bohi.

Silva is an 18-year veteran with 10 years as a motorcycle officer.

Hollywood police are urging anyone with information on Silva's crash to call 954-967-4357 or anonymously contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
