BRIEF: CenturyLink outage affects three states

Nov 14, 2012 (The Daily News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A cut fiber caused internet outages for CenturyLink customers in three states Wednesday.

Derek Kelly, market development manager for CenturyLink in Eastern North Carolina, stated in an email that the outages started Wednesday morning.

"We experienced a fiber cut due to third-party construction, which caused intermittent service outages in North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee," he stated.

The outages lasted around three and a half hours, and the last customers had their service restored around 11:30 a.m.

"CenturyLink places a priority on customer service," he said. "All service has been restored." Contact Daily News Reporter Tabitha Clark at 910-219-8454 or Tabitha.Clark@jdnews.com. Follow her on Twitter at @TabithaLClark or friend her on Facebook.
