Overlake Medical Center Foundation Raises Record Amount at Annual Community Lunch
BELLEVUE, Wash. --(Business Wire)--
On Monday, Nov. 19 Overlake Medical Center Foundation hosted their 14th
annual Community Partners Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue
featuring keynote speaker, Alan Mulally, president and CEO of Ford Motor
Company. The annual event drew a crowd of 750 corporate partners and
community leaders and raised a record $400,000, nearly double the amount
raised in 2011.
"I believe this shows the strength of our commitment to the eastside
community we serve and their interest in keeping this a thriving,
community-supported hospital," said President and CEO Craig Hendrickson.
"It was also exciting to welcome Mr. Mulally here to describe his
turnaround of Ford, without government assistance, much the same as
Overlake operates -- without any taxpayer support but instead through
the generosity of the community which we proudly serve every day."
As part of his remarks, Mulally fielded questions from the Overlake
community on topics ranging from Ford's turnaround to oprating in a
rapidly changing business environment. He recalled his early days at
Ford facing losses of over $17 billion in 2006 and talked in detail
about what he did to achieve the "highest profit in the company's
history," and without any government assistance. He spoke of pulling
teams of people together to work collaboratively and in a transparent
way as the root of Ford's success, similar to the operating mindset of
Overlake Medical Center.
Foundation Executive Director Molly Stearns said she was gratified with
the outstanding show of support from the community. "The dollars raised
will be directed to Overlake's Ensuring Excellence Fund for programs and
services across Overlake's broad network of care -- helping our patients
and families manage their health with the latest technologies and
medical advances, a superb medical staff and high-quality, compassionate
care."
