(AME Info (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dec. 18--MTV, VIRGIN LAUNCH WEEKLY HITS LIST: MTV has partnered with Virgin Megastore to launch a weekly listing of the most popular music videos, Gulf News has reported. The Virgin Megastore Hot List went live in Saudi Arabia and the UAE from December 12 and also played as a 30-second promotion on MTV Channel, airing at all the Virgin stores in the region.
TWITTER LAUNCHES FEATURE TO DOWNLOAD TWEET ARCHIVE: Twitter has started rolling out a promised feature that allows users to download their entire archive of tweets, Cnet has reported. A brief note under the new button informs users that, "You can request a file containing your information, starting with your first tweet. A link will be emailed to you when the file is ready for download."
FINE LIVING PARTNERS WITH OSN: US-based Scripps Networks Interactive, Inc. has announced it is set to launch its Fine Living lifestyle channel in all 26 OSN territories throughout the Middle East region on the OSN DTH platform from January 1, 2013, Rapid TV News has reported. To be broadcast in both English with Arabic subtitles, Fine Living is designed to "help viewers design their life." The deal, brokered by Fine Living's distribution partner Chello Zone, will see OSN offer subscribers access to in-home design, travel, cuisine and personal style programming through the DTH platform's basic tier package.
SAUDI CHANNELS TO GO HD ON YAHLIVE: UAE-based satellite broadcast platform YahLive has confirmed it will soon broadcast the six Saudi TV channels in high-definition (HD), Arab News has reported. "YahLive will have 50 channels broadcast at 52.5E by the end of 2012 and many more in early 2013," Mohamed Youssif, the CEO of YahLive, told the daily. Dubai Media Inc., Abu Dhabi Media, Saudi TV and MBC are among the Arab channels that have been transferred to HD broadcasting technology. In addition to broadcasting these Arabic channels, we are supporting the conversion of their broadcast platforms to HD, enabling them to make a much quicker conversion than they would make otherwise," he said.
