New Tech Odessa earns national honor
Jan 18, 2013 (Odessa American - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
New Tech Odessa received word Wednesday it is now an official Demonstration Site with the New Tech Network.
With this designation, NTO -- beginning the second semester of just its second year of existence -- joins an elite group of schools that are examples of excellence within the New Tech Network, according to a release from the Ector County ISD.
"It is a great honor and privilege for New Tech Odessa to be selected as a national Demonstration Site," NTO Principal Adrian Vega stated in the release. "Not only is it a validation of the hard work and effort put forth by the learners, parents and facilitators of NTO, but it speaks to the work, vision and direction of ECISD, its board of trustees and the broader community of Odessa."
As a national Demonstration Site, New Tech Odessa will serve as a model campus for other districts to visit and observe as they consider creating their own New Tech school or look for ways to improve an existing New Tech campus, the release stated.
Officials from the New Tech Network will schedule a conference call in the next few weeks to work with NTO administrators on preparing for this monumental achievement, the release stated.
