BRIEF: FOOTBALL: Greg Volpe will not return as East Haven coach

Greg Volpe will not return for a fifth season as head football coach at East Haven High, athletic director Mike Marone confirmed on Monday.
Marone said that Volpe submitted his letter of resignation approximately one month ago.
A source indicated that Volpe emailed football parents about his intent to resign around the same time.
Vin DeNuzzo, East Haven's principal, said "it's a personnel matter" and had no further comment. Volpe did not return a phone message seeking comment.
After beating Lyman Hall 28-27 in its season opener, East Haven lost its final nine regular-season games last year by an average margin of 40 points per game.
