Financial consultant announces run for Upper Milford supervisor seat

Feb 11, 2013 (The Morning Call (Allentown - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A longtime financial consultant who once served as a councilwoman in Glendon Borough is running for a seat on Upper Milford Township's Board of Supervisors.

Democrat Joyce Moore, 57, is planning to make her candidacy official at a Tuesday press conference. She's seeking a six-year seat currently held by Republican Daniel J. Mohr, who serves as chairman of the three-person board.

"Upper Milford deserves a financial expert as township supervisor, an expert who can sort through the budget and seek every cost savings possible," Moore said in a press release announcing her candidacy.

She describes herself as "socially responsible" and "fiscally conservative." Moore said she has more than 20 years of experience of providing clients with investment, estate and retirement planning advice.

She attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and served as a board member with the Spring Garden Children's School and League of women Voters.

She's a member of the Sierra Club and mother of two.

She previously served as a borough councilwoman in Glendon. She resigned from the position in 1997 after six years in the position because she moved out of the borough.

Moore said she envisions a Board of Supervisors that is "efficient, transparent and fully committed to advocating for" Upper Milford families.

"As a member of Emmaus Upper Milford Environmental Advisory Council, I know just how precious our community is," she said in the release. "As a township supervisor, I will work hard to preserve the rural quality that makes Upper Milford such a wonderful place to live.

Township supervisors are paid $2,500 per year.
