Cyber ransom growing
Feb 18, 2013 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --
Criminals are using "ransomware" attacks on companies to demand money for leaving their data untouched. They threaten to delete crucial information if they are not paid. The results of the 2012 national "Cyber Crime & Security Survey", released by Australian Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus on 18 February 2013, show that more than 25 organisations were victims of online attacks in September 2012. The survey found that some companies do not take cyber security seriously enough, with 35 per cent of surveyed companies having IT security staff with no formal training.
