U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter, Blaine Sector January 31 - February 20, 2013

Feb 27, 2013 (DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY DOCUMENTS AND PUBLICATIONS/ContentWorks via COMTEX) -- (Tuesday, February 26, 2013) Blaine, Wash. - The information listed below is from arrests and seizures related to the U.S. Border Patrol in the Blaine Sector area of operations. For security reasons, this may not be a complete list of enforcement actions.


02/02/2013 - Operators of a Remote Video Surveillance System observed an individual in a wooded area near the U.S./Canada border in Blaine, Washington. Agents responded to the area and located the person hiding under a bush. The subject, a citizen of Cuba, was determined to be illegally present in the United States. A records check indicated the subject had prior criminal narcotics convictions, and had served a significant prison sentence. The subject was placed under arrest and processed for removal.

02/03/2013 - Agents encountered an individual in close proximity to the U.S./Canada border in Blaine, Washington. The subject, a citizen of Mexico illegally present in the United States, had prior criminal convictions including theft of a vehicle. The subject was placed under arrest and processed for reinstatement of a prior order of removal.

02/17/2013 - Agents performed a vehicle stop near the U.S./Canada border in Blaine, Washington. The passenger, a citizen of El Salvador, was determined to be illegally present in the United States. The driver, a citizen of Canada, was determined to be in violation of status. Both subjects were placed under arrest and processed for removal.

02/17/2013 - Operators of a Remote Video Surveillance System observed a subject walking southbound from the U.S./Canada border on the beach in Blaine, Washington. Agents responding to the area encountered the individual, a Canadian citizen illegally present in the United States. The subject was placed under arrest and processed for removal.

02/18/2013 - Operators of a Remote Video Surveillance System observed five subjects walking south from the U.S./Canada border north of Lynden, Washington. Agents responded to the area and located the individuals in a nearby field. The group was composed of a citizen of Pakistan and four citizens of India who were all determined to be illegally present in the United States. The subjects were placed under arrest and processed for removal.

CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
