Clarizen Takes Sprint 2012 Editor's Choice Award for Online Project Management

By Steve Anderson, Contributing TMCnet Writer

Clarizen’s online project management and collaboration software tool has received its share of accolades, and one more has just landed from Start2Cloud, who awarded the software its Editor's Choice award for Spring 2012.

Clarizen landed the award for a variety of reasons; one top feature including its sheer versatility. Clarizen covers most every facet of online project management there is to offer, from budget tracking to project scheduling to task management, helping to ensure that, even when everybody on a project isn't under the same roof, they can all be on the same page.

Clarizen also offers a collaboration tool, ensuring that project team members operating in different locations can keep abreast of what each other is working on, as well as provide that necessary collaborative input that can take a project from mundane to amazing. Clarizen provides support for most web browsers, including those most commonly used, and can work with a variety of other cloud applications like Google (News - Alert) Docs, iCalendar, and more.

The Clarizen application has more than 1500 customers so far, and is the result of nearly six years of development providing the application in more than 10 languages.

One of the primary obstacles to implementing successful telecommuting programs is the lack of accountability. This can be rapidly overcome with proper task management systems, in which what a team member should be working on is clearly spelled out, and preferably with reporting steps built into the project timeline. Clarizen looks to provide exactly that, even to the point of allowing for a comments section to add comments about each step of a project, any problems that are encountered, and similar issues.

Clarizen itself, meanwhile, is currently available at a variety of contract levels and pricing schemes, depending on the specific needs of the user. The Professional edition comes in at $24.95 per user per month, while the Enterprise edition sells at $39.95, and the Unlimited edition takes it to $44.95. Contract lengths, meanwhile, range from the half year to 36 months, and prices get less expensive the longer the length of time on the contract.

So for those looking into the budget and morale benefits of telecommuting, or who just want to get some organization back into their management schemes, then looking into Clarizen won't just be the Editor's Choice, but possibly, the smart choice in general.
