BMC Software Introduces Three New Apps on

BMC Software, a provider of Business Service Management software, announced it has launched three new applications to the BMC ServiceDesk on solution. The new applications are change management, problem management and configuration management database (CMDB).

With these new apps BMC Software (News - Alert) is making it easier for IT organizations to embrace cloud-based tools that transform the way people work, according to BMC officials.

The new cloud-resident applications add increased layers of depth, visibility and functionality within the affordable simple format of,’s enterprise cloud platform, company officials said.

According to Kendall Collins, chief marketing officer at, these new applications enable BMC Software to provide customers with the best-in-class service desk functionality, built on the world’s leading enterprise cloud platform.

The strategic alliance between BMC and has produced more than 10 integrated cloud applications, with some of them focusing on key areas that transform businesses today.

“The worldwide system management SaaS (News - Alert) market continues to grow rapidly as more and more vendors like BMC introduce solutions and customers become more comfortable with this model for sourcing software,” said Mary Johnston Turner, research director, System Management Software for IDC (News - Alert), in a statement.

According to IDC, the worldwide system management SaaS market will total $1.3 billion by 2014 and the market will demonstrate a compound annual growth rate or “CAGR” of 27.1 percent for 2009-2014.

“The sophisticated, integrated world of IT Service Management is converging with the mobile, streamlined expectations of today’s consumers and BMC ServiceDesk on delivers on both fronts,” said Bob Johnson, vice president and general manager of the BMC SaaS business, in a statement. “The result is a seamless, cost efficient, cloud-based delivery of IT services that are responsive and revolutionary.”

In a related development, BMC Software announced it has acquired the privately held GridApp Systems, and expanded its current offering of application, server, network and client configuration management to include database automation.
