Business Process Management or ‘BPM’ is a phenomenon grabbing attention of enterprises worldwide as it helps them streamline their overall business procedures in an enhanced manner.

The Appian Corporation, a provider of enterprise and cloud-based business process management BPM software solutions, has announced that first quarter of the present year was the best quarter in the history of the company, during which it realized a growth of over 200 percent in sales of BPM software solutions when compared to the same quarter last year.

Cloud deployment of company’s Appian BPM Suite constituted about 42 percent of the total software sales made by Appian during Q1 2010, according to company sources. Additionally, Appian was also able to add over 20 new customers to its profile during the period, some of which are C.R. Bard, Inc., and Husky Oil Operations, Ltd.

The Appian BPM Suite helps enterprises in carrying out their primary business procedures in a number of areas such as Finance, Acquisition, Human Resources and Customer Service in a smooth and streamlined manner. The solution is equipped with a number of advanced features such as better time-to-deployment, no up-front investment and seamless migration to on-premise that have played an important role in attracting its customers towards company’s software as a service or ‘SaaS’ (News - Alert) solution. The latest version of the Appian BPM Suite and Appian Tempo, a mobile BPM and social business interface of the solution were both launched by the company in first quarter 2011.

“In 2011, we expect to see transformative technologies make the critical transition from early adopter status to early mainstream adoption,” commented Frank Gens, senior vice president and chief analyst at IDC (News - Alert). “As a result, we’ll see the IT industry revolving more and more around the build-out and adoption of this next dominant platform, characterized by mobility, cloud-based application and service delivery, and value-generating overlays of social business and pervasive analytics.”

“Appian is dedicated to BPM software innovation and delivering the highest-quality Appian Experience we can for our BPM customers,” said Matt Calkins, president and chief executive officer at Appian. “That focus on the fundamentals of value is generating excellent returns both for our customers and for Appian, and we look forward to continued growth in the future.”

In February 2011, Appian announced to sponsor two March 1, 2011 events for federal procurement professionals: the ACT/IAC Acquisition Day in Washington, DC and the Defense Procurement and eBusiness Conference in Orlando, FL.
