IVR Payments Simplified and Secured by SpeechStorm

The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council has authenticated SpeechStorm’s (News - Alert) Payment Capture application against the Payment Application Data Security Standard, or PA-DSS. With credit and debit card fraud across the European Union crossing US$1.99 billion annually, this is a crucial accomplishment for SpeechStorm.

As a result of the PA-DSS authentication, customers implementing SpeechStorm’s IVR applications will be assured of the maximum level of over-the-phone card payment security. Customers will also be able to safeguard cardholder information, thereby protecting their clients form the imminent threat of payment card rackets. SpeechStorm’s application is a unique pre-built solution for Genesys (News - Alert) Voice Platform, or GVP, that is also compliant with PA-DSS.

In a statement, Oliver Lennon, CEO and co-founder of SpeechStorm said, “As customers, we all trust that organizations will use and store our data in a responsible way. Merchants must comply with industry regulations or face being fined. SpeechStorm Payment Capture can be utilized in completely computerized self-service transactions like paying a bill over the phone via IVR. Alternatively, the application can allow the payments to be accepted at the contact center with the help of the IVR, which is used to gather critical card data in lieu of an agent querying the customer.

Lennon said, “Compliance is something demanded by industry, but customers are also increasingly concerned about how their card details are handled. One of the advantages of IVR over other approaches to compliance is that customers themselves feel re-assured about the security of the transaction – keying in or speaking card details to a machine feels much safer than reading them out to someone you don’t know at the other end of the line.
