In a traditional brick and mortar store, one can often find change drop off boxes at checkout. There, customers are able to drop off some of their change, giving a few cents to charitable causes. These drop off boxes can serve as an important source of funding for many charities. When a person comes in and uses a credit card, or a newer mobile payment system, there is no change to drop off, cutting out a source of funding for charities. Sionic Mobile, a mCommerce company, has begun to attempt to change this within its own services.

Sionic Mobile provides businesses and customers with access to its ION service. Companies are able to sign up with ION to allow customers to pay for products using an app that is connected to their favorite payment programs. Businesses are able to use ION to receive digital payments, and reward customers. Those who use ION to pay for services will receive IONs, digital credits that can be used as cash with ION partnered businesses.

Sionic Mobile has been pushing its new “Give, Get Back, Pay it Forward” campaign, hoping to support more charitable organizations. As part of the campaign, Sionic Mobile is adding a Give option to its app, as a general option and as a button during check out. Sionic Mobile will be giving an extra contribution to charities added by customers on its app, every time the customer uses the Give options, while also making a donation every time IONs are even earned without using the Give button.

As part of the launch for the “Give, Get Back, Pay it Forward” campaign, Sionic Mobile is partnering with Center Helping Obesity in Children End Succesfully, Inc, or C.H.O.I.C.E.S., based in Atlanta, Georgia.

"C.H.O.I.C.E.S. is honored to be the first non-profit to be featured inside the ION Rewards app,” said Vanetta Keyes, founder and executive director of C.H.O.I.C.E.S. “Our ability to grow, educate children and parents on the importance of healthy choices and create awareness within the community is directly tied to donor contributions. Providing donors the ability to contribute conveniently from their smartphones helps ensure these goals are achieved, and allows us to reach a new audience that may not be aware of our organization.”

With ION, customers can now go into their favorite ION partnered business, and donate a few extra points to ending childhood obesity. C.H.O.I.C.E.S. is only the first charitable organization to join up with Sionic Mobile, and if the campaign is successful, many more organizations will likely see the ION app as a new and effective way of raising further funds. Sionic Mobile is trying to revolutionize the way we pay for services, and it is truly commendable that it is also careful to not leave the charities out.
