Georgia Perimeter College has selected a hosted contact center solution from Nortel with an aim to provide a fast-growing student body with convenient access to information regarding students’ services such as enrollment services, career counseling, tuition and fees, testing schedules and more.

Georgia Perimeter College is a public, two-year college; the third largest institution within the University System of Georgia. With current enrollment at more than 23,500 students, GPC's population is the most diverse in the system, welcoming hundreds of students from more than 150 countries to take classes online or on one of four campuses and one site in the metro-Atlanta.

Nortel (News - Alert) officials said Georgia Perimeter College is leveraging a Nortel Hosted Contact Center Solution to support various student services groups, including the offices of enrollment services, advising and counseling, student financial services, and testing.

Officials said that the new contact center is expected to increase students' ability to access relevant and consistent answers to their inquiries and will educate them on processes and services to promote self sufficiency.

"We needed a ready-to-go solution that would allow us to deliver secure and reliable customer service for our students," said Dr. Anthony S. Tricoli, president, Georgia Perimeter College, in a statement.

Tricoli said that after seeing the added benefits from the state of Georgia's deployment of Nortel's Hosted Contact Center Solution, the college also looked to Nortel to help improve responsiveness and lower the costs of answering the customer requests associated with an institution of more than 23,500 students.

"The state of Georgia is a leader in customer service innovation, and Georgia Perimeter College is one example of how Georgia is encouraging other institutions to improve their services across the state," said Jenna Stanley, general manager, Enterprise Global Services, Nortel, in a statement.

Stanley said that all stakeholders established very clear objectives, and Nortel has worked closely with them to define a solution that adds value and delivers results. Leveraging a hosted business model has allowed the state and the college to enhance the quality of service while reducing complexity and cost.
