The movement to cloud-based IP telephony by businesses of all sizes continues to gain momentum. As enterprises free themselves from the burden of expensive telephony equipment and the need to use IT department resources to manage outbound and inbound call functions, a variety of IP telephony companies continue to pursue solutions to make the delivery of cloud-based telephony options easier and more cost effective.

Cloud-based voice over internet protocol (VoIP) solution developer, VOIP Connections, continues to expand its cloud-based VoIP services to small and medium sized businesses as they move their telephone exchanges from conventional installations to the Cloud.

The company noted that adopting cloud-delivered telephony services can reduce costs by permitting businesses to provide full service inbound and outbound communications without having to install expensive EPBAX telephony hardware.

The company’s Mediation Gateway (News - Alert) solution, launched in January, supports on-premise or hosted Microsoft Lync 2010 on Amazon’s AWS with Enterprise Voice capabilities. The company said it had deployed its Mediation Gateway at Wowrack Datacenters, whose customers are now able to host their Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync environment there, accessing a significant variety of on-premise features of Lync in a Cloud environment, including ‘dial-in’ conferencing and inbound/outbound calls using their Lync client.

”We are excited about this partnership because now we can provide an industry-first Cloud based ‘dial-in’ Conferencing and also inbound and outbound calls from Lync for our Customers without any additional hardware requirements on their part,” said Erward Osckar, VP Wowrack, in a company statement.

Wowrack operates and manages a dedicated Internet Data Center (IDC (News - Alert)) that offers various hosting services, including Managed Hosting Solutions, Dedicated Server Solutions, Colocation, Virtualization, Bandwidth Delivery and Managed Services. Core competency includes the ability to design, provision, implement, manage and monitor high traffic websites that require high availability and common infrastructure.

“This alliance proves flexibility of our ‘Mediation Gateway’ product,” commented Ojasvi Sinha, Director Services at VOIP Connections. “We have successfully implemented on Amazon AWS and also on Wowrack Datacenters. Customers can pick the right environment for their needs.”

Based in Seattle, Washington, VOIP Connections is one of the largest ‘Voice Over IP’ service providers concentrating on delivering full enterprise connectivity. The company has introduced a variety of telephony solutions, includiing ‘PBX (News - Alert) on the Cloud’ solution, which connects multiple business offices through a single communication network, mitigating the need for expensive hardware and significantly reducing long distance charges.
