Rapidly changing economic scenarios of technology markets across the globe have been compelling enterprises and organizations to enter into partnerships that will enable them to save costs and enhance their operational strategies.

A new plan being worked out by two 911 call centers based in Joplin, a city in the Jasper county of Missouri, might be helpful in saving a large amount of money in terms of budgets, apart from helping in the rescue of the lives of various people in danger.

Lane Roberts, Police Chief at Joplin, has proposed the new plan that will effectively connect the Joplin 9-1-1 call center with the Jasper County call center. Both organizations spend around $4 million every year in dispatching emergency calls being made by the people needing help. After the new development, this expenditure is being expected to fall down by at least half a million dollar per year.

Through this plan, the costs incurred in the movement of Joplin dispatchers to the Carthage site will be shared by two agencies, cutting the fiscal responsibility in half for each of them.

“There’s savings to the budget, there’s operational efficiencies that benefit public safety, benefit the public safety responders,” said Roberts. “In every regard, in every element of our two operations right now, it saves where they need to and is enhanced where they need to.”

During the first round, the new proposal has successfully been passed by the Jasper County Emergency Services Board – which will now be reviewed by the Joplin city council in the second round.

Only after the details of the proposal will be finalized, and a contract approved, will the plan effectively take place.

In August 2012, Amcom Software’s pc/psap 911 call center solution was listed under the Department of Defense’s Unified Capabilities Approved Products List. This solution had received Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certification from the U.S. government and it will ensure secure, reliable communications for both government and civilian organizations.
