Fidelity Call Center to Employ 500 Coloradans

In a struggling economy, call centers appear to be the one bright spot. Call centers like TD Bank’s renovated call center in Greenville, South Carolina, have been opening across the country, bringing new jobs and new hope into communities.


Now, Fidelity has announced that it will be opening a customer contact center in Greenwood Village, a suburb of the Denver-Aurora Metropolitan Area. With it comes the potential for 500 new jobs. 

Fidelity anticipates that it will be open in the second quarter of 2013.

According to Howard Pankratz of The Denver Post, this is not the first big news the area has received in 2013; Visa announced that it would be adding 406 jobs in an expansion, and Redwood Trust announced that the firm would be opening an office that would bring 550 jobs. 

It isn’t luck bringing jobs into the area; the state is offering major incentives, including property tax rebates and training funds. In the case of Fidelity, Pankratz reports, one of its own incentives included $400,000 dedicated to training the 500 new employees. 

CBS Local in Denver added, “The company says Denver offers access to a highly educated workforce, but also an attractive business climate, a positive quality of life, excellent schools, attractive commuting options, amenities such as shopping and dining, and proximity to hotels, health, wellness and recreational facilities.”

Fidelity sees the Denver site as an important part of their future business. In a statement, the company said, “The Denver site will become an important hub for Fidelity and will ensure that the firm can continue to offer the highest level of customer service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” 

Whether or not we can assume that the financial services industry is finally rebounding, based on Fidelity’s major expansion, is still yet to be seen. One thing is clear: call centers across the country are growing.
