Toshiba Rolls-Out IPedge Release 1.5 with Augmented Capabilities

In an effort to provide SMBs and multi-site enterprises with the smartphone features that help them communicate more efficiently, cost effectively and reliably, the Telecommunication Systems Division of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. has incorporated augmented features into the latest Release 1.5 of IPedge family.

The IPedge is a family of IP business telephone systems designed for small to medium-sized businesses. The earlier releases delivered multiple unified communications applications on a single Linux server, such as call processing, voicemail, unified messaging, call manager unified communications, video conferencing, native SIP line and SIP trunk support, mobility, networking with other IPedge and/or Strata CIX systems, centralized administration, survivability and feature-rich telephone endpoints.

The latest release of IPedge now offers all the features available in the previous release plus IPMobility mobile client, voicemail survivability via direct cluster networking, integrated gateway wizards and more.

As quoted by Toshiba (News - Alert), the release 1.5 upgrades are for the following models: Toshiba’s IPedge EM that supports up to 1,000 users; IPedge EC that supports up to 200 users; and IPedge EP that supports up to 40 users.

“ Now faster and easier to install, set-up, and use, IPedge Release 1.5 gives companies a robust IP telephone solution that is backed by Toshiba’s best-in-class reliability.”??

With the new release, Toshiba has extended IPedge to Apple iOS and Android (News - Alert) mobile devices through the incorporation of IPMobility client application. The IPMobility provides single number reach to Apple and Android smartphone devices for both incoming and outgoing calls. In addition, IPMobility provides visual voicemail to remotely manage and control IPedge Messaging voice mailboxes.

In addition to existing IP phone, call manager, and secondary master database survivability, the latest release of IPedge now supports voicemail survivability for an end-to-end survivability solution.

The IPedge Release 1.5 also features enterprise manager that has integrated its gateway configuration wizard for ADTRAN (News - Alert) gateways. This integration makes set-up faster and easier for users. The wizard also creates the configuration file, once the SIP trunk channel group and service definition information has been entered into the IPedge database.

In addition, Toshiba also provides a separate gateway configuration wizard tool for AudioCodes gateways. As quoted by Toshiba, it continues to provide wizards and utilities in IPedge Enterprise Manager to simplify administration.

The latest release of IPedge also includes a Network DN Import/Export Wizard for importing and exporting the network DN table from Toshiba’s Strata CIX business telephone systems to IPedge systems and vice versa.

In addition, IPedge also delivers default system model database pre-configurations to get the IPedge system up-and-running in a short span of time. ??
