August 15, 2014
The amount of data being aggregated in today's ecosystem allows organizations to gain insight into the industry a particular business happens to be in. The convergence of mobile technology, cloud and big data analytics is creating more data than ever, while at the same time making it possible for virtually anyone to crunch the information and gain actionable insights. Splunk (News - Alert), provider of software platform for real-time operational intelligence, is launching the new Splunk App for Stream to capture real-time streaming wire data Relevant Products/Services.
The available technology today makes it possible to capture data from a wide range of sources. Wire data is a unique type of machine data transmitted between applications over networks capable of providing information about different subjects without needing code instrumentation. The Splunk App for Stream is able to capture wire data and provide information about business activity, application performance, security and IT infrastructure issues.
When customers are using Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud for security, fraud detection, compliance, application management, IT operations and business analytics, they are able to gain additional insights from the captured wire data. The App captures real-time streaming wire data from anywhere in the organization's data center or any public cloud infrastructure with its scalable and easy to configure software solution.
This data can be used to improve operational intelligence across a variety of use cases by correlating it with logs, events and metrics. Administrators can capture data that is relevant to them for analytics through filters and aggregation rules, and manage the wire data volumes within the App interface by selecting or deselecting protocols and related attributes with fine grained precision.
The App interface allows rapid deployment of wire data collection so real time network visibility can be gained. This type of data would be hard to achieve with traditional data centers and otherwise unavailable from cloud implementations. Accessibility to this information allows organizations to respond to any issue quickly using the interface driven installation, centralized deployment and configuration across different IT environments and structures.
"Unlike traditional and appliance-based solutions, which are difficult to deploy Relevant Products/Services, especially in public cloud Relevant Products/Services infrastructures, the Splunk App for Stream enables customers to gain immediate wire data access on-premises or in public, private or hybrid cloud infrastructures," says Leena Joshi, senior director of solutions marketing, Splunk.
The Splunk App for Stream is free for Splunk Enterprise or Splunk Cloud customers.
