LSI to Launch Content Delivery Networks for Data Centers and Mobile Service Provider Networks

LSI Corporation (News - Alert) launched a platform featuring the company's networking and storage solutions to enable content delivery networks (CDN). The CDN brings the rich media services to multi-screen environments. A programmable platform that brings significant performance, manageability and scalability and enhances the application and content delivery servers is the combination of LSI Axxia Network Accelerator, Axxia Media Accelerator and WarpDrive SLP-300 solid-state acceleration card.


In a press release, Steve Vandris, media processor product line director, Networking Components Division, LSI, said, “By preventing network congestion, data center and mobile CDN servers make it easier for users to access live broadcast video, video on-demand, and other video and graphics-intensive content from any screen, at any time and in any place. Our portfolio of network and storage solutions makes it easier for OEMs to more cost-effectively manage rich media content and deliver a higher QoE to users.”

The foundation enables equipment manufacturers to reduce operating expenses for their customers while delivering rich media content and enabling new services is provided by the CDN servers using the LSI portfolio of networking and storage solutions. The LSI networking and storage solutions also enables the equipment manufacturers to decrease time to market, support new codec standards and help OEMs produce products with upgradeable features.

Will Strauss, principal analyst, Forward Concepts (News - Alert), said, “With the exploding growth of rich media within the data center environment and on mobile devices, more efficient media processors and storage capabilities are required to meet today's demands. The adoption of CDN servers powered by LSI solutions helps OEMs contend with this issue.”
