Allowing the users to navigate more than 150,000 WiFi hotspots in 99 countries, iPass unveiled iPass (News - Alert) Hotspot Finder 2.0.
Hotspot Finder 2.0 delivers valuable productivity tools and advanced end-user features for mobile employees. This includes favorites, which provides stores and organizes favorite hotspots; Geotracking, which leverages smartphone geotracking coordinates to deliver nearby hotspot data, and At-a-glance venue information, which includes venue type, location, as well as easy access to information on iPass In-Flight WiFi (News - Alert) on participating airlines.
Also, iPass is partnering with GogoInflight Internet to help mobile employees stay connected from takeoff to touchdown. Gogo is available on flights traveling over the continental United States. On a whole, the company provides secure access to over 156,000 venues including Ethernet, WiFi, free and iPass-vetted WiFi and Inflight WiFi hotpots.
“Busy mobile workers want to know where they can connect and what the experience will be like in advance,” said Steven Wastie, senior vice president of marketing and product management at iPass, in a press release. “Our hotspot finder tool is used by more than 50,000 mobile employees a month. By leveraging the information and opinions of the iPass community of mobile workers, we expect Hotspot Finder 2.0 to become a reliable source of WiFi hotspot.”
Hotspot Finder 2.0 also provides Ratings and reviews, which provides richer insight into the quality of WiFi connections and venues with user-generated ratings and reviews, along with Trip planning, which identifies hotspots near a destination, saves the hotspot map and conveniently retrieves it when needed through My Trips. The company serves 3,500 customers, including more than 420 of the Forbes Global 2000.
Recently, Skyrove, a large South African independent WiFi hotspot network provider, chose iPass, Inc., to avoid the high cost of roaming charges for its customers. As part of the agreement, iPass will be offering iPass Mobile Network to Skyrove. iPass mobile employees can now use the Skyrove network as part of their existing iPass enterprise mobility services with one simple sign-on for multiple devices, such as Android and Apple (News - Alert) smartphones, laptops and tablets.
