It’s a connected world, and one needs to be connected all the time no matter what the location – at home, at the office or even on a flight. Flight connectivity, in particular, is a big business and anyone connected enough knows the various technological advances made in this field in recent years.

Gogo, a provider of in-flight connectivity, and worldwide satellite operator SES (News - Alert) have announced their signatures on milestone capacity and ground support agreements to provide Gogo broadband services on commercial airliners.

Three SES satellites will allow Gogo to expand its broadband offering in the sky to aircraft flying busy transatlantic routes, as part of the long-term deal that encompasses more than six transponders of Ku-band capacity.

While NSS-703 and its three powerful spot beams reach across the North Atlantic, SES-4 serving Europe, The SES-1 spacecraft will cover the continental United States.

For the business aviation market, Aircell, a Gogo company, currently provides three different in-flight technologies: Iridium Satellite, Inmarsat (News - Alert) SwiftBroadband (satellite), and Gogo Biz (ATG).

The company will soon announce its plans for ATG-4 and Ka-band satellite for its business aviation customers.

“Gogo is entering the all-important international air travel market and expanding our North American offering with SES,” said Gogo president and CEO Michael Small. “A trio of SES satellites will enable Gogo to provide reliable and seamless satellite coverage for our current airline partners on their international fleets,” he added. “We’ve tapped the best technology and expertise in the satellite business to ensure we can deliver high-quality services throughout the most important airline routes in the world.”

Recently, the company offered Gogo Gift Cards, which allow people to give the gift of in-flight connectivity this holiday season. Passengers will now be able to select to buy a physical card or an e-card with the help of Gogo's website at gogoair.com in increments of $30, $60 or $100, which would give two, four or eight connectivity sessions, respectively.
