Globecomm Systems, Inc., a global provider of satellite-based managed network solutions, has received a contract from a major media & entertainment company valued at $3.8 million.

Officials with Globecomm said that under the terms set forth in the contract, the company will design and install antenna diversity switching systems to enhance direct-to-home service availability and includes refurbishment of existing antennas.

Company officials said that in addition to this Globecomm will provide its Network Management Software product, AxxSys Orion, and associated engineering support services.

“Our innovative solutions and commitment continue to prove advantageous to our existing customers,” said Dov Cydulkin, vice president of Asia Pacific with Globecomm Systems (News - Alert), in a statement.

Back in August Globecomm Systems had announced quadrupling its points-of-presence (PoP) and teleport facilities, enabling telecommunications service providers to enhance and simplify connectivity requirements around the globe.

Officials with Globecomm said that the company’s expanded network is built on industry standard fiber optic connectivity that supports state-of-the-art communications for Globecomm and its subsidiaries.

Company officials said that this includes the network expansion of Globecomm’s subsidiary, Carrier 2 Carrier telecom, and a new PoP in New York.

Equipped with state-of-the-art resilient switches and routers, the Globecomm network is implemented in a distributed and a local peering architecture with major tier 1 exchanges and providers.

According to company officials, Globecomm customers now have the ability to select virtually any carrier with a local presence at any of the company’s locations to be part of the Globecomm network.

This advancement further enhances Globecomm’s robust, secure global network through major terrestrial peering points and PoP located in the United States, Europe and Asia.
