Skout Is Location Based Mobile Flirting App for iPhone, Android Phones

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

As the first mobile flirting app, the “location based love” app, Skout, is readily available for iPhone and Android (News - Alert) phones. Around two million singles connected with each other this year alone using the new app. By leveraging GPS technology, Skout has brought forth the concept of “gps dating” in an effort to enable singles to meet and flirt based on proximity rather than measuring compatibility based on a series of exhaustive surveys. Skout.com had approximately 10,000 new users enrolling every day in the Dec. 2010.

The applications creators note New Yorker Brian Gettlemen was connected with his fiancé while shopping at Hugo Boss in the Time Warner (News - Alert) Center and commented that Skout has completely changed the game of online dating by allowing singles to meet in real time compared to other traditional systems that make use of long drawn out emails.

In the same release, Gary Kremen, Founder of Match.com said, “Skout is perfectly positioned to disrupt the online dating market. Skout represents what all dating companies must become to not only just remain relevant, but to survive.”

Christian Wiklund, Founder of Skout.com added, “Skout aims to connect like-minded singles based on location. If you're at the arthouse theater and I'm at the arthouse theater, chances are we have something in common. The same can be said for most locations. Skout has grown exponentially in 2010 and we expect 2011 to be even bigger. If your new year's resolution is to find love or just a fun fling in the new year, Skout is the hottest destination in the app store.”

As of today, Skout, launched in 2009, has gained immense popularity among iPhone (News - Alert) users looking into mobile flirting. According to the creators of Skout, the app allows users to make the informed decision about making contact with someone or responding to someone trying to make contact. Users can also set their profile to “Private” so as to locate someone without being noticed or to block someone.
