Mayflower Communications Co., Inc., has been issued U.S.Patent No. 7,852,964 dated Dec.14, 2010 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The patent, entitled “Antijam Filter System and Method for High Fidelity High Data Rate Wireless Communication,” is a technology that can estimate the interference signals that are received along with the desired user signals in communication systems that employ multiple receiver antennas.
The technology can also filter the measured interferences so that the clean filtered signals are subsequently processed for data extraction by employing widely available wireless communication technologies, including MIMO. The antijam filter is especially effective in cases where the number of receiver antennas is more than those present at the transmitter.
According to company sources, the patented antijam filter provides modularity, so that besides MIMO, it is also able to augment other similar two-way wireless communication systems, including OFDM, CDMA, and others.
However, it specifies one requirement that is the presence of more than one antenna. The antijam filter provides a modular, low complexity, multiple antenna-based mitigation system and method that eliminates co-channel interference whether hostile or not, explained officials in a release.
Mayflower specializes in advanced radio navigation, digital Anti-Jam, and wireless communication technologies besides GPS receiver technology. It is designated as an “Authorized SAASM P(Y) Code GPS Receiver Developer by the GPS Wing (GPSW)”.
Also the company has the distinction of pioneering the digital Anti-Jam technology with a broad portfolio of low cost, low power, robust Anti-Jam solutions for GPS receivers, and for wireless communication systems.
According to company sources, the Anti-Jam hardware and software developed by Mayflower incorporates different Anti-Jam algorithms to address different aspects of jammer threats. The first generation of Mayflower Anti-Jam solution was in multi-card chassis. The second generation Mayflower Anti-Jam technology, which provides 4-channel Anti-Jam on a single circuit card assembly, is an active product. The third generation Mayflower Anti-Jam technology is a System on Chip (SOC) implementation, Vanguard, for GPS signals.
