IsoTropic Networks Adopts the iDirect Evolution Satellite Platform

By David Gitonga, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Today, IsoTropic Networks, a company specializing in offering solutions in satellite Internet services and iDirect (News - Alert) host Network Operator (HNO) has now upgraded its global satellite network to the iDirect Evolution platform with iDX3.1 software. The main advantage of this upgrade will be that IsoTropic can now reduce its overall operating cost hence getting a chance to grow its business.

The company upgraded to evolution so as to improve on efficiency, affordability and scalability which is crucial in the currently growing satellite networking. The move also ensures that IsoTropic provides its reseller partners with an opportunity to fully control their own remotes in an economical way and still make some revenue, a characteristic that is mandatory for any focused HNO.

Using the iDX3.1 software allows the integration of INFINITI and Evolution onto a single yet powerful platform. This has the overall result of providing unmatched bandwidth efficiency with DVB/S2/ACM. In addition to this, it offers a range of multiple applications that further extend the credibility of the iDirect platform.

On the other hand, the iDX3.1 platform packs new features and hardware that allows its partners to offer narrow-band services and support heavy duty networks while still managing to get the best from existing infrastructure. This will give new revenue opportunities while entering new markets, increase hub scalability and reduce the cost of ownership.

All in all, evolution enables IsoTropic to cut down on its operating expenses by maximizing on the segmentation space. This is achieved through the use of built-in DVB-S2 with adaptive coding and modulation (ACM) technology. In addition to this, the company will further improve on efficiency and flexibility since the new platform allows users to switch between TDMA and SCPC subject to dynamic bandwidth requirements.

The key features of this new platform will include a new compact and low-power Evolution X1 remote that has an optional IP67 weatherproof casting, a new 16-channel narrow-band license to cater for the XLC-M line card, a highly-efficient BUC and LNB bundle and QoS enhancements to optimize large scale networks.
