Russia's civil aviation authority, the Aviation Register of Interstate Aviation Committee (ARIAC), has certified the commercial version of Airborne Digital Audio Management System (ADAMS) by ORBIT Communication Systems, Ltd. This certification will allow company to install ADAMS systems onboard the An-148/158 aircrafts.
According to a company statement, following this certification, ORBIT won a major contract from a Russian company for the supply of several ADAMS communication systems. Additional orders are expected to follow.
The certification procedure followed by Russian authorities comprises of demanding and comprehensive process and spanned for more than a year to certify ORBIT's communication management system. The actual certification was conducted by ARIAC in collaboration with Israel's Civil Aviation Authority (CAAI), which had previously certified ORBIT's systems.
ORBIT's Airborne Digital Management Systems (ADAMS) is designed to meet the complex requirements of medium and large crew aircraft such as commercial airliners and transportation or cargo applications. This modular COTS system supports up to 20 users, 16 radios and 31 receivers, six recording outputs, discrete lines and configurable internal intercom networks this system can be provided with a PA system.
"This order represents a significant penetration milestone for ORBIT in the Russian civil aviation market, as it involved certification by the Russian regulatory authorities," said Ofer Greenberger, CEO of ORBIT Communication Systems Ltd. "Following the certification we are already engaged with additional potential customers. As such, we expect that the certification will pave the way for further adoption of ORBIT's systems on additional airborne platforms in this strategic region."
ORBIT's Communication Management Systems (CMS) portfolio offers flexible and robust systems which can be used to manage the complex voice, video and data communication on board mobile platforms (airborne, seaborne and ground applications). These systems include a digital switch that seamlessly integrates the routing and distribution of inbound and outbound communication on board the mobile platform, as well as an intercom that can be used among both air and ground staff.
