USSTRATCOM Awards $13.2 Million Contract to KTOS SAT

The United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) recently announced that it has signed a strategic five-year contract with SAT Corporation (News - Alert), an ancillary of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions or KTOS. As part of the contract, worth nearly $13.2 million if all the options are utilized, SAT Corporation will offer global Radio Frequency or RF interference geolocation services to USSTRATCOM.


QoS RF Monitoring and Interference Detection along with Geolocation Services will be delivered by SAT to U.S. Cyber Command or USCYBERCOM for tracking and geolocating commercial satellite interference. The Department of Defense information networks is operated and protected under the guidance of USCYBERCOM, which is a sub-unified authority operating under USSTRATCOM. USCYBERCOM is also accountable for the preparation, organizing, incorporating and harmonizing activities in order to steer the working of the Department of Defense information networks.

In a statement, Greg Caicedo, VP and GM of SAT Services said, "We are pleased that USSTRATCOM and USCYBERCOM will continue to rely upon the advanced technical capabilities of our global network. Worldwide geolocation capabilities are an essential piece for USSTRATCOM and USCYBERCOM defense missions, including enhanced protection of critical leased commercial SATCOM assets. SAT Services provide these capabilities in a uniquely cost-effective services-based model."

The Global SATCOM Support Center or GSSC of USCYBERCOM is situated at Peterson AFB, Colorado. SAT will utilize its worldwide network comprising of eight commercial Interference Detection and Geolocation sites for providing actionable data to GSSC. SAT’s best-in-class commercial offerings like Monics for interference tracking; satID for geolocation; and Tri-band antennas are utilized by the worldwide network of SAT. SAT’s global network is therefore able to spot, distinguish and geolocate sources of unintended or purposeful interference, which disturb the leased commercial communication satellites, in a rapid and precise manner.
