Gogo to Deploy its In-Flight Wireless Entertainment Product Across Delta's Domestic Fleet

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

Gogo recently announced that Delta's entire two-class and Delta Connection fleet of Gogo-equipped aircraft will now feature Gogo Vision, its wireless in-flight entertainment product. Gogo is one of the premier providers of wireless in-flight connectivity and digital entertainment solutions.

"Delta is a leader when it comes to offering their passengers connectivity related services and we are excited to work with them to bring Gogo Vision to their passengers,” said Michael Small, Gogo's president and CEO. “As we begin updating their fleet with our next generation ATG (News - Alert)-4 connectivity service, we will also add the Gogo Vision product to those aircraft."

Gogo will begin the installation of Gogo Vision on Delta's domestic fleet this year, and is expecting to complete all installation by 2013. The company is also looking to complete the installation of new international Wi-Fi service in addition to Gogo Vision by the end of 2015.

Once installation is complete, more than 950 Delta aircrafts will feature Gogo connectivity and Gogo Vision.

Along with equipping its fleet of aircrafts with Gogo Vision, Delta is also keen on including Gogo's next-generation connectivity solution, ATG-4, in its fleet. The result will be enhanced air to ground network and a robust increase in capacity to the aircraft.

Gogo Vision videos, stored on an internal server on the plane, will be streamed to the passengers' Wi-Fi enabled devices. While the price for television programming begins at $.99 (per show), full-length Hollywood movies will cost $3.99.Customers will have the option of picking and sorting titles based on criteria such as genre, length of video among other such categories.

Passengers will also have the option of first going through a preview of the selected program before making the purchase.

At present, more than 200 aircrafts of American Airlines and Delta Air Lines are equipped with Gogo Vision.
