Comtech Telecommunications Wins $1.4 Million of Orders for SATCOM High-Power Amplifiers

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Comtech PST Corp, subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications (News - Alert) Corp, has recently won $1.4 million of orders to supply high-power amplifiers to a provider of aviation electronics and communication systems.

The Satcom series of airborne amplifiers operate over the INMARSAT frequency Range of 1626.5 to 1660.5 MHz. Their design utilizes linear amplifier technology (class AB) for amplification of multiple input carriers. These amplifiers provide the lowest distortion (IMD) with the highest efficiency possible. Their light weight and compact size make them suitable for airborne applications where weight and size are essential.

Fred Kornberg (News - Alert), president and CEO of Comtech Telecommunications Corp., said, "These orders are ongoing evidence of our capabilities in delivering innovative commercial aircraft amplifier products. We are proud of our long-standing relationship with this premier supplier of aviation satellite communications systems."

These high power amplifiers supports satellite communications systems to offer commercial mobile airborne-to-satellite-to-ground communications service. This systems provide operators with the ability to access Inmarsat's (News - Alert) Aero-H, Aero-I and SwiftBroadband service for aeronautical satellite communications with multi-channel voice, fax and data capabilities.

Comtech Telecommunications designs, develops, produces and markets innovative products, systems and services for advanced communications solutions.

The company’s Santa Clara, California-based subsidiary, Comtech Xicom (News - Alert) Technology Inc., recently won orders from a domestic integrator totaling $1.8 million to supply a suite of solid-state high-power amplifiers ("SSPA's") to support U.S. military tactical SATCOM applications. The orders were for a range of power levels in the C-, X-, and Ku-bands, and provide users with the ability to access both military and commercial satellites around the world.
