Beam Communications Pty Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of World Reach Limited and distributor of Iridium (News - Alert) and Inmarsat Satellite accessories, stated that the IsatDock Pro products from Inmarsat installed at the Russian Antarctic Polar Station are set to deliver high-quality satellite communications to the facility.

For research purposes, the Russian Federation is stated to have set up five polar stations with over 200 operating personnel, and the Antarctic Polar station carries out scientific research of the Antarctic as a whole.

The facility employs various communications solutions like Inmarsat (News - Alert) IsatPhone Pro, BGAN and Iridium.

Beam, a strategic manufacturer of both Inmarsat and Iridium satellite docking stations for the Iridium 9555, Iridium Extreme and the Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro satellite telephones, has been supplying communications solutions to the Antarctic region via its dealer JSC ANTARSAT.

In spite of the adverse environment to which the facility is subjected, the solutions supplied by Beam deliver high-quality calls.

Beam’s IsatDock PRO is an intelligent docking station for the IsatPhone Pro specifically designed to support accessing voice services via Bluetooth, RJ11/POTS, hands-free speakerphone or the active privacy handset.

IsatDock PRO allows the IsatPhone Pro handset to be widely used in a variety of applications.

The IsatPhone Pro, Inmarsat’s first handheld global satellite phone, fits securely in the dock, which is also key lockable. Other features include phone charging, USB data port, in-built ringer antenna and power permanently connected to the dock ready for use.

It also lets users text or e-mail their GPS location directly from their phone.  

Inmarsat added that its Global Satellite Phone (News - Alert) Service (GSPS) is a new service for users needing basic voice and limited data services.
