Globalstar Europe Satellite Services Inks Distribution Agreement with Virtual Mobile Data

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Globalstar (News - Alert) Europe Satellite Services Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Globalstar Inc., recently inked an authorized distribution agreement with Virtual Mobile Data (VMD), a company that offers complete solution covering Voice, Internet, Data tracking and M2M Solutions via Satellite.

As a national distributor, Virtual Mobile Data will sell Globalstar's mobile satellite voice and duplex data products to the defense, government and private sectors within the Polish Mainland Territory via their established dealer channel.

"By signing this agreement, we are expanding our collaboration and partnership with Globalstar, as well as strengthening our position as a leader in the Northern African satellite telecommunications market,” said Yosri Ben Ismail, operations manager with VMD. “Thanks to the best Duplex voice quality and fastest low band data speeds, we are now able to meet our customer's key requests. We are confident that through this collaboration, VMD will be the principal partner for individuals and businesses seeking satellite communication in Northern Africa."

"We are delighted to be working with VMD within the expansive, fast developing markets of North Africa. They are uniquely positioned to offer our suite of Duplex and SPOT products to the government, B2B and B2C markets within that region," said Mark O'Connell, director of European Sales & Business Operations, Globalstar Europe Satellite Services Ltd.

Apart from this agreement, Globalstar has announced its intention to launch six additional LEO (low-earth orbit) satellites by early next year, completing its second-generation satellite launches. These satellites use the Soyuz-Fregat version of the Soyuz launch vehicle and will last for 15 years – twice the lifespan of Globalstar's first-generation satellites, according to company officials.

These second-generation satellite constellations will back the company's current lineup of voice, Duplex and Simplex M2M data products and services, including its suite of SPOT retail consumer products.

Globalstar currently offers its variety of services to commercial customers and recreational consumers in more than 120 countries around the world.
