NSR has recently released the third version of its report related to SCADA/M2M via Satellite. According to the report, the future looks promising as a well-balanced combination of satellite based SCADA/M2M prospects are expected to be available along with a considerable change in the verticals in the market.
For the next 10 years, the growth of the market for conventional verticals has been forecasted in single-digits. During the same period, budding verticals are, however, forecasted to have notable growth figures. As compared to the current yearly revenue worth $1.2 billion, the worldwide satellite SCADA/M2M market is expected to cross $2.7 billion by 2021.
The overall revenue growth is not expected to deviate much due to lower margins mainly restricting resources for the Military, rivalry in the Oil & Gas sector and a certain level of maturation in the Transportation/Cargo market. Budding verticals guided by the implementation of renewable energy facilities are expected to have better prospects, resulting in considerable growth in the utility arena. A more sturdy growth for a long period can also be expected due to the rise in mining actions.
Jose Del Rosario, Senior Analyst for NSR is the author of the report, ‘SCADA/M2M via Satellite, 3rd Edition. In a statement, Del Rosario said, "Together, traditional verticals and emerging markets yield dynamics that call for the improvement of core, traditional offerings in order to be competitive while, at the same time, providing experimentation and risk-taking in targeting emerging opportunities."
According to the report, L-band has subjugated the current market. The L-band is also expected to continue as the favored platform in the future. Ku-band has, however, penetrated the Transportation/Cargo market, where it is widely used by the latest verticals. Ku-band is widely used in green energy, which offers high bandwidth CCTV for security necessities.
Del Rosario said, "Ku-band's higher ARPU levels and healthy market share in an otherwise predominantly narrowband market is likely to lead to the entrance of HTS, which could change the market in significant ways."
NSR’s best-in-class tracking and analysis of SCADA/M2M via Satellite market is carried forward by the latest report. An all-inclusive analysis of addressable markets and demand trends for the SCADA/M2M market are included in the report.
