VT iDirect (News - Alert) announced that SkyVision Global Networks has launched a new iDirect hub and will also be offering full Pan-African coverage on both C-Band and Ku-Band. iDirect specializes in satellite-based IP communications technology.
Itai Galmor, VP of Marketing, SkyVision (News - Alert) said, “We are thrilled to broaden SkyVision’s activities in Africa by providing high quality connectivity to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding African economy. We have long relied on the iDirect platform to deliver reliable connectivity to our customers. The efficiencies of iDX 3.1 and the Evolution X1 allow us to expand our operations further.”
SkyVision, a provider of IP connectivity over satellite and fiber optic systems, has upgraded its networks to iDirect’s iDX 3.1 operating software as well. The new iDirect hub will become operational on the Amos-5 Ku-band satellite to provide coverage to the southern and sub-Saharan Africa.
In addition, it will also complement SkyVision’s existing C-band coverage to enhance the Pan-African network. SkyVision already operates iDirect hubs in North America, the Middle East, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, DRC and Zimbabwe, said officials.
SkyVision will leverage iDirect’s iDX 3.1 operating software to provide an optimized VSAT solution for customers. iDirect’s over-the-air upgrade capabilities help perform smooth software upgrades to thousands of sites. The deployment of iDirect’s new Evolution X1 remote offers a low power, compact, and easy-to-install remote suitable for large-scale deployments.
Majdi Atout, Regional VP, Middle East/Africa, iDirect remarked, “At iDirect, our goal is always to find ways to help our partners meet the diverse and complex communication needs of their customers.”
The iDX 3.1 release enables cost reduction and better efficiency on both the hub and remote side. This capability can be used by partners to expand their VSAT networks easily and affordably, Atout added.
