Comtech Telecommunications Corp. has announced that its subsidiary Comtech Mobile Datacom (News - Alert) Corporation (CMDC) has been awarded a $1.2-million contract to support the International Force Tracking System (IFTS) of the NATO International Security Assistance Force.
CMDC, a Maryland-based company, provides satellite-based packet data communication systems and location and messaging services by using advanced network and communication technology.
The $1.2-million contract supports Globecomm Systems (News - Alert) International on the project. The process of upgrading is to increase the ISAF FTS track capacity and to include feeds from Afghan National Tracking Systems, ANTS and ISAF’s Movement Visibility System (MVS). CMDC is upgrading its GeoOps software program, which is the central software application in ANTS.
The upgrade includes system security components like command and control, C2 features, Geospatial Information Systems, GIS and Situational Awareness, SA. CMDC aims at providing interoperability with other nations, and hence is developing key enhancements for the current IFTS.
